Medical Problems
Good afternoon everyone,
As some of you may know, I just was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called: HSP. It has been a really long journey figuring this all out.
At the end of January, our family got the flu that was going around and as everyone recovered, I continued having congestion, a really bad cough, and a really hard time breathing.
On February 2nd I started developing a rash on my legs, my feet started swelling and a ton of other symptoms started happening. I was throwing up blood and was in pain all over. I wasn't able to talk or anything because I was so swollen. My hands started swelling so bad that I couldn't hold anything, I couldn't text, hold a pen, or do anything with my hands.
I was taken to urgent care after a few days with these symptoms. It was very concerning, but the Dr. didn't know what it was. So they told me to see my primary care Dr. I saw my primary care Dr. the next day and he did not want to do anything about it. He just told me to hang in there and wait it out basically. We waited a few more days... I was still going to work and school and pushing myself to do things, even though all of this was going on.
That following Monday, I went to my evening class though I was in ragging pain... As I got out of my class, I was in so much pain that I couldn't even walk, my rash was developing even more worse, etc. When I arrived home, my parents had to rush me to the ER because I was that much worse. After waiting hours at the ER, with tests being taken and then the Dr. eventually seeing me... We then found out that I had HSP. Finally around 3:30am, I was able to go home.
The next morning I had an emergency appointment with a Dr. in San Diego who took more tests to make sure that my kidneys and intestines are not harmed.
Last week we finally found out that none of my intestines or kidneys were harmed as of now. However, they said that my autoimmune disease was linked with me getting super sick while my immune system was very low. On top of that, depression and stress can be a huge trigger for this disease. So that is pretty frustrating to me, since I struggle really strongly with depression and anxiety.
Yes, this rash and swelling will go down... However it can pop up at anytime that I get sick, stressed, or depressed.
There are many other details about my health... But this is just the frame of what is going on.
Prayers would be appreciated... There are some days that are very difficult and other days that are totally fine. Currently I am figuring out more of what I can and cannot do when I get flare ups.
